Constitución de El Salvador 1996 (The Constitution of El Salvador of 1996) is the result of the recent history of El Salvador. On January 16, 1992, the complete text of the agreements between the Government of El Salvador and the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) was signed in Chapultepec Castle (Mexico), in which they ended twelve years of civil war in the country. The fulfillment of the agreements was under the special tutelage of the United Nations and entailed the reform of the Salvadoran Magna Carta.
