Letters of Relation

Twenty years after Columbus’s first voyage to the Indies, Hernán Cortés sailed from Havana to Mexico and began the conquest of the Aztecs. Cartas de relación (Letters of Relation) is an amazing testimonial containting five letters that speak to the cruelty, barbarity, and cunning of the conquerors and the lasting cultural effects of the merging of cultures.

Hernán Cortés led the conquest of Mexico. He is believed to have studied at the University of Salamanca.
