Zeferino Gonzalez wrote History of Philosophy in Córdoba. This is the first major history of philosophy written in Spanish and the first Catholic systemic exposure of the History of Philosophy. This volume covers a span beginning with the dawn of antiquity, including Hindu and Chinese thought, and concludes with the philosophical currents of classical Rome.
Zeferino Gonzalez took the Dominican habit in the convent of Ocaña, and at 18 moved to Manila, where he finished his studies. There, he published his main doctrinal work, three volumes of Studies on the philosophy of St. Thomas. He was elected to the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences. Later he became Archbishop of Seville, and in 1884 was appointed cardinal.
