Love and the discovery of nature appears in the Églogas de Garcilaso de la Vega (Eclogues). In the first, the author speaks through two pastors: Salicio, who laments having been rejected by Galatea, and Nemoroso, who mourns the death of Elisa. Both characters correspond to two biographical periods of Garcilaso, that of his unrequited love for Isabel Freyre and that of the sadness caused by her death.
