Viaje de Turkey (1557) is a Spanish dialogue of the Renaissance, so extensive that it can be considered a dialogue novel. Its first editor (1905), Manuel Serrano y Sanz, attributed it to Cristóbal de Villalón. Also, according to the theory of the Hispanist Marcel Bataillon (in his Erasmus and Spain, 1937), its author may be Dr. Andrés Laguna.
For his part, Fernado García Salinero (University of Washington) attributes its authorship to Juan de Ulloa Pereira.
It is an Erasmist dialogue in which Pedro de Urdemalas, a folkloric character of oral and written literature, appears.
After many years outside Spain, he met again at the Court with Juan de Voto a Dios, a fellow student in Alcalá, and Matalascallando, the funnyman of the colloquium, who also assumed the names of folkloric characters. The two friends invite Urdemalas to tell them about their adventures in two after-dinner conversations.
At the beginning of the book the author of Viaje de Turkey exposes in the dedication to Felipe II his intention:

“it was necessary to inform the king of Spain of the power and weaknesses of the Turk and in passing it was convenient to warn him of some immorality of his armies and of the inefficiency of the money that was spent on the ransoms.”
