Day one

(When you have sung the music, say a voice on high, without hearing the musicians.)

A voice (Inside.) Throw him off the scale,
precipitate him, kill him,
lower in atoms to the center,
measure the air without wings;
Phaethon of himself be,
that for death dalle
God’s commission we have.

Everyone (Inside.) Die!

(Alexander rolls down from above with broquel and sword, stabbing the musicians, and says.)

Alexander Oh, vile, scoundrel, infamous!

Musicians It looks like a mountain
It fell apart.

Alejandro Wait for me,
Villains; because although everything
hell be with you,
pieces I have to make you;
These are, run away, cowards.

Musicians Tente, demon, or who you are,
that like lightning you went down
from that balcony to the ground.

Let’s all run away.

(Vanse the musicians.)

Alejandro Must not escape
A human philaziga
of you, or of anyone else
of how many you find in passing,
that I spit the soul in volcanoes
by the eyes and mouth.

(Carlos comes out on the other hand with naked sword and broquel.)

Carlos Man, stop, what are you doing?
Who are you?

Alejandro Who? The devil.

Carlos The devil? Oblige yourself
the cross of this steel of mine,
of the bright stars
mirror, to flee.

Alejandro Me?
You know me badly, you know badly
Who I am, because I am a demon
so crazy, so arrogant,
that I do not flee from the crosses
Not even an ordeal: the street
it is to be done, man, narrow,
and the world, that thou mayest escape,
made ashes of me.

Carlos Well, they’re naked, talk
steel tongues alone,
and the arrogances be silent.

Alejandro Whenever I have been offered
I have spoken in that language;
but I have not found in Florence
nor in the world, who waits for me
with so much courage.

(The two fight.)
