The giant Poppies is a piece of political theater that parodies the military epic established by the tyrant Juan Manuel Rosas in nineteenth-century Argentina. At some point in the work “Poppies” and “Roses” are confused and the irony of the title becomes evident.
Juan Bautista Alberdi reflects on the revolutionary impetus. It analyzes the exaltation of war and the absence of a legal framework that leads the forces of change towards a realistic solution.
Throughout The Poppy Giant , two strange illusory armies face each other with supreme irony. Both armies fight each other ignoring each other. While they erect imaginary symbols and values that serve as their identity.
