Written in 1932 by Jorge Mañach, Joaquín Martínez Sáenz, Francisco Ichaso and Juan Andrés Lliteras, some see in El ABC al Pueblo de Cuba, key in the history of Cuba, the influence of the fascist Manifesto of 1919, the work of Marinetti and Alceste de Ambris.
The ABC counted among its members businessmen, journalists and relevant politicians and was, among other things, a violent and nationalist movement. However, Mañach denied again and again such accusations and focused his political thought on the denunciation of republican evils and on a pragmatic relationship with the United States and vigilant of national sovereignty.
A few passages from El ABC al Pueblo de Cuba are enough to understand the ABC program in the context of the Cuban Republic:

“There are Cuban populations, like Banes, in the East, nestled within the fiefdom of the United Fruit Company, where no law is obeyed other than that imposed by the American administrator: where the Cuban authorities are his vassals; where all municipal privileges are reserved for Yankee residents; where the Cuban is treated like a deer of the gleba, and is even forbidden, at certain times, access to the urban center.”

And it is no coincidence that Fulgencio Batista grew up in Banes and its surroundings. Also there amassed his fortune Angel Castro, the father of Fidel Castro, among some of the most prominent Cuban families.
After a reading of this document, the poorly constructed foundations of the Cuban Republic can be seen. Likewise, Cuba’s complex relationship with the United States of America. Also outlined here are policies that were adopted in the Cuban Constitution of 1940, of which Mañach, Ichaso and Sáenz were signatories.
The ABC to the People of Cuba is the work of members of the Cuban historical right. However, it is worth noting its emphasis on the equal distribution of wealth and on sovereignty.
