Mexican Constitution of 1843

The Mexican Constitution of 1843 (Constitución mexicana de 1843), also known as the Constitution of the Centralist Republic, was a magna carta that established the legal and political framework for the government of Mexico during the period between 1843 and 1844. It was promulgated on June 12, 1843 in Mexico City.
This constitution established a centralist system of government, where power was concentrated in the central government. It established the division of powers into three branches: the Executive Branch, led by a president; the Legislative Power, exercised by a Congress; and the Judiciary, with a Supreme Court as the highest authority.
The Constitution of 1843 sought to strengthen the central authority of government and limit the autonomy of the states. It also established individual rights and guarantees, such as freedom of expression, of the press, of worship and of assembly. However, the constitution limited political participation by establishing property and education requirements for exercising the right to vote.
Despite its attempts to centralize power, the Constitution of 1843 faced difficulties and internal conflicts. Its validity was brief, since it was repealed in 1844 and replaced by a new magna carta.
The Mexican Constitution of 1843 reflects a period of political transition in Mexico, where different forms of government were experimented with and solutions were sought to the challenges facing the country. Although its impact was limited, it laid the groundwork for future constitutions and was part of the process of building the Mexican political and legal system.
