Impressions and judgments, by Mariano Aramburu y Machado, is a work that has undergone several transformations over time. In its first version, this compendium of ideas and analysis obtained the recognition of the Círculo de Abogados de la Habana, a milestone that led to its subsequent publication.
However, when the book was finally published, it had undergone considerable alterations and expansions, as the author himself pointed out in a preliminary warning. These changes, the product of corrections and the incorporation of new information, resulted in a work that, although identical in its essence, differed greatly in its presentation from the originally awarded version.
The author not only corrected certain defects caused by the haste with which the first version had been drafted, but also considerably expanded certain topics that were initially treated with relative conciseness. In its final form, Impressions and Judgments was enriched with new chapters concerning kinship and the social person, adding to the initial 14 chapters.
Impressions and judgments stands out for its clarity and length, being recognized as one of the most important original works on Civil Law published in Spain at that time. The thematic versatility of the book, together with the exhaustive research and analysis of Aramburu and Machado, make it a valuable contribution to the legal literature.
