History of Cuba II

At the beginning of the 1920s Ramiro Guerra wrote this History of Cuba, which from the aboriginal cultures follows the formation and evolution of the nation until the dawn of the republic. This work represented a transcendental advance for Cuban historiography.
The project remained unfinished, but a first volume and this Volume II were published, which reaches until 1607. Ramiro was looking for signs of national gestation in that early colonial period.
Not only did he consult new sources, but he led his analysis beyond traditional political events, to consider usually neglected social and economic phenomena, thus delving into “deep history”. Our author considered this approach essential to find the embryos of the Cuban community.

They are classic texts of Cuban historical studies. In the prologue to this last book, Ramiro Guerra said:

“A country can never have one story, but many stories.”
