Compendium of Al-Gazzali’s logic

Compendium of the logic of Al-Gazzali is a work by Ramon Llull in which the logic of al-Ghazali is shown in verse. This work shows Llull’s desire to promote the study of the fundamental principles of philosophy through two different types of teaching resources, each designed for a particular type of audience.
Al-Gazzali’s Compendium of Logic, in verse, was addressed to those who did not know Latin, so Llull resorted to a literary form and a communicative strategy typical of the Romanesque tradition. By analyzing the form and rhetoric of the work, even in comparison with the Arabic source and the Latin Compendium, some details can be identified that can help characterize the possible recipients of Llull’s work.
It is important to remember that although Llull may have studied and learned from al-Ghazali’s work, his work also incorporated elements of his own system of thought.
