The great linguists of the twentieth century interpreted how language works, the relationships between natural and formal languages, etc. etc. and among their merits are having come to develop their “theories”.

We are in the era of meta theories. Basically, we now have an infinite arsenal of “theories” for studying language, and those theories are “programmed models” applied to frameworks of study.

Thinking is now a “speech act”, a program, an ad hoc tool.
